Ongoing Projects- National interest

Bharat VECTO

  • Bharat VECTO development project was formally launched by Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari on 17th January 2025 during Bharat Global Mobility Expo at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
  • The project was officially kicked off on 19th March 2025 at ARAI in the presence of officials from MoRTH, MHI, ARAI, SIAM, and OEMs.
  • A consortium has been formed with participation from MoRTH, BEE, MHI, SIAM, ARAI, and OEMs.
  • Bharat VECTO development has also commenced with support from the Joint Research Centre (JRC), European Commission.
  • The draft notification for Bharat VECTO has been submitted to MoRTH.
  • Bharat VECTO for diesel vehicles is planned to be released by the end of December 2026.
  • Phase II will focus on EV range calculations.

  • 350 kW dynamometer with all engine data acquisition and control
  • Mechanical system and engine instrumentation equipment
  • Consumption equipment and conditioning systems
  • Emission measurement system (Pre-post), PM PN, FTIR, H₂ analyser
  • Intake and exhaust air handling system
  • H₂ storage & distribution
  • Air handling & exhaust system – ATEX certified
  • Test cell air conditioning and HVAC system
  • Safety requirements for H₂ test cell
  • Hydrogen storage yard

Real Drive Emission Testing

  • PEMS system compliant as per legislation:

    • EU 2016/427, 2016/646 & RDE Package 3 and 4
    • AIS 137 Part 3 & 4, AIS 175 (GVW < 3.5T)
    • UN-ECE R49 rev. 6, EU 582/2011
    • EU 2016/1718, 2016/1628, 2017/655, amended by 2018/987, 2022/2387, AIS 137 Part 7 & Amendment 1 (NRMM)
  • Module 1 – Gas Analyser

    • CO: 0–10% ; CO₂: 0–20% ; NOx: 0–3000 PPM
  • Module 2 – THC & CH₄ Analyzer (HFID)

    • 0–10000 PPM
  • Module 3 – PN Measurement (PN 23)

    • 0–30000 p/cm³
