Homologation Management & Regulation

The Homologation Management & Regulation (HMR) department was initially set up to act as a Central Coordination Cell with a vision to offer a Single Window Service to customers for Type Approval of vehicles for compliance to Central Motor Vehicle Rules in the year 2000. This department presently plays a key role in this main Type Approval activity of ARAI by understanding the requirements of the customer, cohesive planning & processing through the connected departments/laboratories within ARAI, and delivering the final type approval & other allied services.

In addition to type approval activities for compliance with CMVR, activity for export Homologation has been added. Besides these activities, the department assists the national-level technical committees for the formulation of new standards, rules and regulations.
